SUMMARY:10th Annual 'Help Local Kids Thrive' Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, over three million young people are served by Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. To show their continued support in preparing today’s youth for a brighter tomorrow\, Ross Stores\, Inc. is partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America with a three-week program called\, “Help Local Kids Thrive.” \nBeginning February 10\, customers in Eureka can make a monetary contribution at their local Ross Dress for Less (“Ross”) store during checkout to be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods\, through March 3. Ross will match the first $400\,000 raised! \n“This year is special. It marks our 10th annual in-store fundraiser to benefit local Boys & Girls Clubs. The funds raised will directly help kids at Clubs nationwide by supporting Power Hour\, a homework tutoring program\, nationally sponsored by Ross. We are proud of our strong\, long-standing partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs and look forward to coming together with our customers and associates to ‘Help Local Kids Thrive\,’” said Matt Young\, Group Senior Vice President\, Ross Stores. \nRooted in a shared commitment to help young people reach their full potential as productive\, caring\, and responsible citizens\, this annual fundraiser helps to actualize the dreams of many local kids and teens. “Our local Ross Store\, managed by Caprice Stowe\, has been amazing to work with. As the associates ask customers to donate at their registers\, 80% of the donation stays locally to support youth at the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods. On the fourth Friday in April every year the Children’s Memorial Flag is to be flown statewide in memory of all the young lives lost in California due to violence in the previous year. \nOn April 1\, 2001\, the United States Congress passed a concurrent resolution supporting this National Children’s Memorial Day and its regular occurrence on the fourth Friday in April. We invite the community to Open the Blue Door and experience the life-changing work happening inside the Club.  \nAT&T is opening a new Connected Learning Center inside the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods in Eureka to provide members with free access to digital resources\, including high-speed AT&T Fiber internet\, Wi-Fi and Dell computers. This center will be open to Boys & Girls Club members and is the first in Eureka and the 11th in California. It will also provide free educational resources and mentoring. AT&T plans to open at least 100 Connected Learning Centers by the end of 2027. Community leaders\, volunteers and Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods families will be onsite for the celebration\, taking place at 1pm during the National BGC Week Community Celebration. \nCelebrated since 1941\, National Boys & Girls Club Week recognizes the invaluable service Clubs bring to communities\, sharing how great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs.
